Humor vampirism 010

Our friend Paul built and ignited the fire, yet my reference to the following song was burked, until I actually sang, “Laura didn’t start the fire.”
As a musician pony Lyra might have a delightful vocal. I wish I could see her singing.
We Didn’t Start the Fire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
“‘We Didn’t Start the Fire’ is a song by Billy Joel. Its lyrics are made of rapid-fire brief allusions to over a hundred headline events between March 1949 (Joel was born on May 9 of that year) and 1989, when the song was released on his album Storm Front. The song was a number-one hit in the US.”

“U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood and Kansas Secretary of Transportation Mike King are among the dignitaries who will attend ‘Building a Skilled Workforce’ at JCCC on Oct. 1. Also attending will be members of President Obama’s Council for Jobs and Competitiveness.

The roundtable discussion will address partnerships between business and college leaders intended to design training opportunities that match employer needs. This is demonstrated at JCCC across a wide span of industries.

JCCC president Terry Calaway will discuss the college’s model of employer curriculum, and members of the President’s Job Council will cover the recommendations it has made in support of the national objective of flexibly responding to market and employer needs for the benefit of growing a skilled workforce.

Others featured at the roundtable, which is hosted by the Kansas City Area Development Council, are Don Graves, executive director, President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, Terry Calaway, JCCC president, Bob Marcusse, president and CEO, Kansas City Area Development Council, Matt Rose, chairman and CEO, BNSF Railway and Darlene Miller, president and CEO, Permac Industries.”

One Day at a Time

The smile on E.J. Becker could be heard, “It’s 7:20 on Kansas City’s Morning News,” and at the office, my manager continued in her light mood, “There’s doughnuts, and I’m glad you all came back today!” Levity is appreciated, especially after the busy and crazy day that we all had yesterday. I also slept better last night.

We are the ones still Swinging

My mother is doing better. When I visited her on Wednesday, she was sitting in a chair, and her color had returned. She has many tests, and will probably remain at the hospital through early next week. Thursday, when I tried to visit, she was resting, so I left. To my surprise, my father and one of my sisters were just arriving in the lobby as I was leaving. I told them that she was trying to sleep. They seemed unconcerned, and my sister said, “We’re only leaving off this [notebook].”
Perhaps the titleAs perfect a Thursdayrecently has been overused, and I certainly do not want for all of my posts on Fridays to always have the same name, since I generally only author one post per day.
I paid my bill at Verizon Wireless, and went to Grandstand Burgers, where I also went on Tuesday instead of the 75th Street Brewery, to where I would have normally gone at five in the afternoon, if I was not suffering from the effects of eating food from the roller grill. Again, just moments after I returned home at 3:30 p.m., my father and sister also returned. They talked to my mother until she was fully awake. Oh, sure, that’s fair.

I considered that I might try to see my mother again later on Thursday, but I was just tired, so starting at four in the afternoon, I took a nap. Earlier, I had stopped by the Cavalier C-Store to talk with my friend Aaron, with whom I had dined at Houlihan’s on Wednesday night. We made plans to meet for dinner again last night. He sent me a text message, and later called me about a change of venue: Taco Bueno in Olathe. Later, I visited the home of Denton.

Luna. Luna, Luna

The BRZ, FR-S, and FT-86 are basically the same car, and a fictional character may also as likely have the same name as another, and become homophonic (e.g., Chris, Krys, Kurisu), so I feel the need to disambiguate the title of this post, which can be read, “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia,” or the way that Agent Smith speaks. A nice feature of WordPress is the ability to ‘copy a post,’ which is rather helpful from a standpoint of composition, and to keep the number in any series correct. I speak about something other than the political or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic in Egocentric Universe: Bring the beat back 004; I now recall the words of the immortal Bleedmanwho publishes, “comics based on movies, games, music, and pop culture,” at Snafu-Comics:

The situation is that I do not have more in mind to post, and afternoon naps make fools of us, and I have a limited amount of time before we commute to rehearsal at the home of John. As perfect a Thursday 007

The Kansas City Chiefs played a good first half on Sunday, but as Linda Carter, who on Monday was substituting for E.J. Becker on Kansas City’s Morning News, was effectively saying to Ellen Shank, “They forgot that the game has two halves!”

The Irony of the Ironic: Hipsters Don’t Understand Irony
“Not too long ago, I was at show and the opening act was an incredibly horrible hipster band. Western button down shirts, big Harry Caray glasses, porn star mustaches, the whole shebang. I would try to look up exactly what band it was, but I’m afraid …”
Not too long ago, I wrote another post with this title, the use of which could today be a greater hoax than this president and more of a charade and farce than the Democratic National Convention: Yesterday was terrible, 007.
The details about the attack on the Libyan consulate are so explosive that they will result in a Congressional investigation.
College Now
“If you are a high school sophomore, junior or senior, you can enroll in selected JCCC College Now courses offered at and in cooperation with your high school. The JCCC College Now program is accredited by the National Alliance for Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships.”
The deadline for payment for College Now is this evening, Friday, September 14. With fewer staff yesterday, my co-workers were hammered with calls from parents. I ignored my protocols, lost a political debate on Facebook, and felt quite horrible about myself.
  1. Politics is not considered polite conversation.

  2. I do not know enough about the issues to discuss them calmly or avoid ad hominem.

  3. I am on the opposite side of the debate on most issues.

  4. I do not like being wrong or being made a fool.

  5. I would rather keep friends and be respectful.
After work, I was rather busy myself. In Whirlwind weekend 008, my blood sugar and my liver proteins saw improvement, and my tests were now to be every six months instead of every three months. Yesterday, the numbers for my blood sugar, cholesterol and liver proteins were all high, so I must return in two months and receive some education from Riverview Community Services in Kansas City, Kansas ...

Last night in defiance, I ordered from Papa John’s Pizza, where I saved half because the Kansas City Royals won one on Wednesday.

Inflammatory Anti-Muslim ‘Movie’ May Not Be A Real Movie
“The clumsy dubbing suggests that the footage comes from different films entirely. And there’s no way that it cost $5 million to make.”
Mistakes were made - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

“‘Mistakes were made’ is an expression that is commonly used as a rhetorical device, whereby a speaker acknowledges that a situation was handled poorly or inappropriately but seeks to evade any direct admission or accusation of responsibility by using the passive voice.”

When You Learn They’re Not Ready
“Some moments show you when a candidate is ready or not to become President of the United States. I suspect last night will become one of those moments for Mitt Romney. The verdict will not be positive. As I noted…”
“Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was widely criticized Wednesday for his outspoken criticism of the Obama administration on its handling of the attacks on U.S. diplomatic stations in Egypt …”

My mother is doing Well

My mother was dehydrated and had shortness of breath, so my father took her to the ER on the afternoon of Tuesday, September 11. I know she needs to rest, but I still feel guilt about not visiting her that night.
Shawnee Mission Medical Center - Kansas City Area Hospital

My mother has chronic muscle pain, and had a heart attack in February 2001. She is in good spirits, and receiving excellent care at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

An offer that I cannot refuse 018

My presence on Twitter began some three and a half years ago, and the Consumer Queen was one of the first accounts that I followed. Please note that this offer was for Monday, September 10. Also, I had a coupon for a buy one Whopper, get one free.
Next time my steak will be wood-fired, and I only had to mention Ryan Newman, “Driver of the Stewart Haas #39 U.S. Army/Quicken Loans Chevrolet Impala.”
Hey, Lyra. Please eat more slowly.

Florida pizza shop owner power-lifts Obama
“Florida pizza shop owner Scott Van Duzer says literally lifted President Barack Obama a solid foot off the ground in a bear hug during an unscripted stop at his Fort Pierce, Florida store. Literally. So what did the Secret Service think about Van Duzer — a registered Republican who says he’ll vote …”
