Blame It on the Rain

Fortunately, in the city where the streets have all names, I was not delivering pizza on Tuesday night, yet it was raining last night when I was working.
Like the flood of 1993 that averages every Super Bowl, the pizza place was unusually busy, so at least for the first few deliveries I was able to Blame It on the Rain.

I’m slow and inefficient, and suffer the consequences. I could look for ways to improve my processes, or own the situation as my manager at the help desk would have said, instead I call myself names and tell myself I’m not good at the job.
Why am I knackered this morning? I was awoken by a nightmare about three hours ago, “and to gain anything, something of equal value must be lost,” so I need to be awake now, and get to the bank this morning.
To add insult to injury, a co-worker left without making any boxes, and I was there all night. My consciousness drifted, like my car between lanes, at least twice on the long way home, so I could have crashed; a fact we'll be expressing to my co-worker this morning.

As Perfect a Thursday 040

I forgot to wish Happy Big-Block Days to everyone!
You left a piece out, she said to me condescendingly. My friend Ronni and I were going to game night because it took me a little longer than usual to upload a post to my blog, and Tuesday night was also a night for severe weather, so there was water in our basement on Wednesday morning, when I got around to pay most of my bills.
I made sure to get some laundry done for my father as Thursday is his laundry day. Before I return for my afternoon route.

I went to Hurricane Allie’s for chicken wings at a special price of $0.75 each, and I was warned that they were just cooked, yet I burned part of my upper lip.

I had time to attend an event at The Foundry at McCoy’s in Westport, but I really don’t get a chance to go to bed that early on a Thursday  night, so I missed the party, but I indulged in dollar dog days again at Sonic.

I also heard the last Jam or no Jam from Will Sterrett, and his final broadcast with the Jonathan Weir Show.

He has a same name and appearance as Will Sasso, but with a goatee, and his dulcet tone often is the foil to ‘The Jonathan Weir Show’s Word of the Day at Dictionary.com - gonzo: filled with bizarre or subjective ideas, commentary, or the like.
Last Thursday I was fortunate to be listening to said program when Will Sterrett would be leaving KMBZ to go into business for himself to create and market content, unlike Tom DeLonge from Blink-182 who says, “I’m Still in the Band.”

As demonstrated around four in the afternoon on ‘Dana & Parks’ yesterday, Sterrett has an amazing ability to recognize Captain & Tennille or Christopher Cross from only a few bars, and tell jam or no jam.

The wind just annoys me because it gets in the way of some Word of the Day at Dictionary.com - alfresco: out-of-doors; in the open air.
I was giving 94.9 KCMO another listen this weekend, their Ultimate 80s Weekend, and heard that song from ‘Top Gun’ a couple of times today alone. I have not been following the comedy series ‘Archer’ lately, so unaware they had gone meta, “Kenny Loggins talks ‘Danger Zone’ and his ‘Archer’ cameo,” and if I haven’t sucked away the humor from that for you, then you probably should have been watching the show.

While I work Saturday and Sunday at the pizza place, also evenings on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, I listen to the Jonathan Weir Show on KMBZ, where Kate Haugan was a guest a few times to promote sets at the Kick Comedy Theater.
As part of Ham-Kitty, her most recent show was Saturday, 16th April, a party which I missed. I should also mention; the Keyword to Cash has returned, and most days I’ve been missing those. Good news, my father’s blood pressure is in the correct range, so he could go to the rehabilitation center, when they have vacancy.

Voices carry ‘til Tuesday

“First things first. No more Word of the Day from Dictionary.com - namby-pamby - lacking in character, directness, like last year’s editor.”
Mostly, this week has exhausted me. I finally went to see a doctor about my bronchitis on Sunday, yet I was so ill that I had to call into work early Monday morning. Tuesday afternoon I took a friend to honor her grandmother, who would have been 80 years old, and we later joined our friend David for a game night as his apartment.

Near the start of my shift on Wednesday, and Thursday I had either a delivery that was could not be completed, or was just difficult. There were some other aspects that caused some emotional volatility this week, and caused me to doubt myself rather unfairly.

Saturday, then was a renewal; I visited my friend been late on Friday night, so I was tired Saturday morning and left my Garmin device at home. I could not figure out how to use Google Maps, or the satellite navigation in my car quickly enough to make them effective, so I ended up trusting my own knowledge which I built over the past four or five weeks working at the pizza place. I have gained a lot of confidence and regained much respect for myself as a result.

I‘m coughing and sneezing quite a bit, and on my way home from work on Saturday I discovered ‘Original Country Gold,’ a weekly show on KFKF, “Summer’s Comin’,” “Backside of Thirty,” “What a Difference You’ve Made in My Life,” and the last two were from Kenny Rogers, who was also celebrating another significant anniversary since 35 years have passed since the premiere of ‘The Gambler,’ “Daytime Friends” and “Love Will Turn You Around

Also, a former coworker from the Arby’s in Mission, Kansas was strangely in the lobby of one of the hotels to which I was making a delivery, and she told me that she was recently in hospital. And she wasn’t even the former coworker with the chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder.
