Yesterday as Denton and Hannah assembled a KALLAX / LEKMAN shelf unit with eight inserts to replace a desk in their living room, I stood in a “‘genkan,’ the low area near the front door where Japanese people leave their shoes before entering,” and wondered what the word was.
