I am eternally grateful for friends who extended an invition to once again join their family for a dinner on Christmas, where I was not expecting gifts, yet I was quite happy to be a part of things. Whatever changes are coming in the months ahead, I will certainly miss time with the puppy.

For those reasons I might be listening to 94.1 KFKF, like its presence in my presets between 102.5 Jack FM and 101 the Fox - Kansas City's Classic Rock Station, I have only first heard “Cab In A Solo” by Scotty McCreery today. Presently, my life is a little trying, the team voted to work two hours longer for three days in the middle of week making challenging timings for a few of my appointments, and I slept a little longer than I thought I would Sunday.

Wednesday last week, when I also went to Target and saw a friend whom I have not seen in many years and has since completed bachelors and masters degrees, I went to Red Robin Gourmet Burgers to see how much of a discount was offered when I showed my work ID, and my employer also grants the Friday following thanksgiving as a paid day off. A friend who hosts Laser Rangers kindly invited me to Thanksgiving, and the next day another friend and aspiring author received some dubious assistance from me. Ben’s World of Transformers prompted a purchase from Hasbro Pulse and a video on YouTube one from Amazon, both of which arrived over the weekend.

My father would have had a birthday today. The day before he passed away, almost three years ago, we listened to a cassette that had belonged to my youngest sister; I wish I could remember the song. I called my aunt, to whom I had neglected to speak for about six weeks. I moved the contents from drive-up storage to an indoor, climate-controlled storage unit two weeks ago. I had to leave a metal desk behind, which certainly stirred some emotions.

More than ten years ago, when I started this blog, I happily wrote something every five days, then every day, then infrequently, and then not for a year or more. I have only first had a full-time job seven years ago, which has affected how often something new can be found here.

For those who might not know, I have been working at a new place for a different company in an entirely different industry since last January. My LinkedIn profile is dreadfully outdated, and I will not identify my employer on any social media since this headline, lest I be associated with the event, “Arby’s apologizes after employee refuses to serve police officer.”

Yesterday, Sunday, I only went outside twice for the sake of the puppy and nowhere else and accomplished little else. The previous day, I saw John Wick: Chapter 4 and having had too many carbohydrates, Being Scott Malkinson made me sluggish all day along with the food choices I described above. Often I have a general feeling of malaise when I think about my present circumstances and what I am trying to do, yet I was reminded by my supervisor that I am here now, and that encourages.

Hoppy (Happy?) New Year!
