Thankfully, someone in the thread explained the initialism M.D.B. in plain language; a post where one is given a hypothetical situation wherein one is offered a Million Dollars But one must tolerate an undesirable condition or situation as part of the wager:
“IMPORTANT ADMIN MDB POST RULING, PLEASE READ
Hey folks! To add to the post Gavin made, I just want to shed a little more light on the issue of the MDB posts.
Some of you will remember a while ago we had an issue arise where people were upset with lewd RWBY posts. We ended up with a divided community and had an overwhelming amount of people messaging us saying they were uncomfortable with the posts and that they were making them no longer wish to participate in the group. This is obviously something we never, ever want to be the case, and we ended up having to make a very hard ruling to fix the issue. We’re in a similar situation now.
Every year when a new season of MDB starts, scenario posts tend to flood the group. These are all well and good, and we 100% support this kind of community-building activity. However, there is an immense issue with them considering Facebook’s algorithm for relevant posts. Basically, the most active posts will be the posts that are featured most and have an overwhelmingly higher chance to be featured outside of the group. This can cause MDB posts to appear incredibly spammy and makes it so that other content doesn’t appear as often. This is a shortcoming on Facebook’s part really, but it’s, unfortunately, one we have to deal with as part of the platform.
To try and rectify this, I’ll be making a master post for all MDB content moving forward. It will be the stickied post for the duration of this season of MDB, and we ask that any scenarios you would like to present to the group be posted on that post. We will be deleting any MDB content posted outside of that post, and I will do my best to try to copy/paste scenarios posted outside of that post to the comments of the master post for discussion, and tag the original poster.
Thank you all so much for your fantastic feedback and criticisms. Please never hesitate to message me with questions, and have a fantastic day!
