NEW ONLINE HELP DESK SERVICE AVAILABLE BEGINNING SEPT. 1
“The new Help Desk self-service website will be available beginning Wednesday, Sept. 1, allowing faculty and staff an additional convenient method to enter and monitor their requests for technical assistance from the web. The new site’s web address will be http://techsupport.jccc.edu.

Documentation related to the new service can be found on the Help Desk SharePoint site under Key Documentation. The Help Desk SharePoint site can be accessed by visiting the college SharePoint site, then selecting the ‘Help Desk for Technical Support’ link located under the Popular Links section on the top right of the page.”

JCCC CELEBRATES CONSTITUTION DAY ON SEPT. 17

Johnson County Community College will celebrate U.S. Constitution Day Friday, Sept. 17.
“Benjamin Franklin, in the person of Fred Krebs, JCCC history professor, will be interviewed by Tim Owens, adjunct associate professor, political science, from 11-11:50 a.m. in room 156 of the Commons Building. The event is free and open to the public as well as students.

This year’s event brings together students in the area high schools enrolled in JCCC College Now American government classes with those enrolled in online and on-campus American government classes to compete to win prizes for best performance on classroom U.S. Constitution exams. Prizes are provided by the College Now program and JCCC Student Activities.

The event will be videotaped and shown over the JCCC cable channel. Top performing students, as well as honorable-mention students, will be recognized on cable television and the Johnson County Education website.

Other events for students include Constitution computer games in the javajazz coffee shop. Cookies and copies of the U.S. Constitution will be available at the entrance to the Commons from 10 a.m.-noon.

Following a Constitutional amendment, the U.S. Department of Education, as of May 2005, requires all educational institutions receiving federal funding to observe the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution, Sept. 17, 1787.

“The free fall Jazz Series at Johnson County Community College will showcase six weeks of premier Kansas City jazz groups at noon Tuesday, Sept. 28-Nov. 2, in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center.

The fall 2010 Jazz Series is:

  1. I want to comment on the Places app on facebook. One of my friends (who is a mother of a young child...and by child, I mean 3 or 4, posted this as her status update):
    Okay, I was going to give an exact quote but she seems to have deleted it. Basically she said that it had just started and what it does is give the exact address of where you are when you log on. Then, after stating that parents should make sure their kids know about it, she went into how to disable it so it doesn't work on your computer.
    Not finding my home address anywhere on my profile or updates or anything, I looked it up and found that the user has to check facebook with an iPhone or some other mobil device with a touch screen.
    When I read that, I commented on her status about this information and asked her if her daughter has an iPhone. Her daughter doesn't.
