Readers know that I am semi-predictable, generally follow a pattern, and profiled no pony in September, so to disambiguate the title of this post,
we must ask, “Where was Ms Okiku?”

Aging family support group announces fall speaker lineup

“Join fellow employees with aging family members who are facing difficult situations and decisions at the aging family support group meetings held twice each month. Employees talk and walk away with resources and information.

Sessions are held from 2 to 3 p.m. on the dates and at the locations listed below. No registration is required.

Speakers and topics are:
  • How to advocate for your loved on in a variety of settings, Connie Fahney, registered nurse and certified case manager, Tuesday, Sept 11, RC 175
  • When the shoe is on the other foot: Changing roles with elderly family, Penny Shaffer, program director, JCCC health and human services, Wednesday, Sept 12, RC 175
  • What to expect and how to get the services you need when you hire a caregiver for your loved one, Cindy Singer, Enhanced HomeCare, Tuesday, Oct. 2, RC 181.
  • Aging resources in Johnson County, Ed Schulte, aging information specialist, Johnson County Area Agency on Aging, Wednesday, Oct. 3, RC 181
  • What everyone needs to know to protect their loved one, Bill Hammond, elder lawyer, Tuesday, Nov. 6, RC 175.
Other meetings this semester are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, Tuesday, Dec. 4, and Wednesday, Dec. 5.”
My mother was transferred to MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital, so she can get stronger and come home.
