Tennessee Titans lost.

“Heading out on the roads tomorrow?

Roads might be slick with snow falling much of the day (and eventually a little freezing rain).

This is the first snow of the season, so if you have to drive, slow down and give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go.

Another cold day is expected with highs in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Precipitation may begin as rain or light drizzle late this afternoon or evening but will transition to snow tonight/early tomorrow morning. Snow will then continue through the day Monday. Accumulations will generally range from 1/2" to 2" but there may be a band where we get as much as 3" mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. The Monday morning commute may be impacted so allow for extra time to reach your destination tomorrow morning.”

“I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. (Romans 16:17-18)”

Greg, Saw Dog & original (not spicy) pumpkin bread

To the east side of the city where I visited a friend and enjoyed some pumpkin bread, I was following two bikers, who were Greg and Saw Dog according to their jackets. They were riding cruisers, but for the life of me, I don’t know and couldn’t tell you if they were riding Harley-Davidsons, Kawasakis, or Hondas.

What I’ve done (Somewhere other than the Night)

More than one time, I have said that I am more likely to be influenced than to be an influencer:
While I own the soundtrack to Transformers (2007), I would concede “What I’ve Done” by Linkin Park is only decent song thereon, similar to the disparaging opinion a friend had about the bands featured with The Matrix Reloaded, whose sequel my coworkers held was no good so I never owned on disc.
“But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law,
although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it--
the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe.
For there is no distinction: (Romans 3:21-24)
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
and are justified by his grace as a gift,
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,”

Since “Memories in the Mist,” my sister and I have been attempting to work together; our strongest point of contention remains my inaction to the items I have left at the house. Instead, I moved some boxes from the living area to the storage space and otherwise went to the house to make sure dad’s truck would start. As Saturday became Sunday I finished relocating my desk and computer inside my closet in my room.
I don’t like to admit that I blared “Ayu’s Euro Mega-Mix (Y & Co. Mix),” yet I had little choice when the car before me in the queue at the drive-thru had a large order and the door-less and packed Wrangler after was committing the most awful karaoke!

Royal Wedding (worth Watching) Vol. 2

It’s like rain on your wedding day,” yet nothing in “Ironic” is, as The Oatmeal explains.
A friend and former colleague was wed today and earlier entreated, “I know this is last minute, but does anyone else in … the surrounding area have a canopy tent we can borrow for my wedding tonight? We’re trying to get as many as possible since it is going to rain!”

That’s Trump and Epstein. Yep. But that’s not on the pedo-island. That’s at Mar-a-Lago. The club that Trump owns. Which was also the ONLY club in Palm Beach that allowed blacks and Jews, and that was only because Trump refused to follow that ordinance. He actually sued the city of Palm Beach for being racist against blacks and Jews. Trump later banned Epstein from the club because he found out Epstein made passes at the 14-year-old daughter of another member, and in 2002 he publicly outed Epstein as a pedophile. Long before Epstein was investigated or charged. In 2005, all of Epstein’s contacts were subpoenaed, except Trump, because he came forward willingly. So, to all of you misinformed dummies, stop trying to use this nasty circle of pedophiles to express your hate for Trump. Do your research and stop being sheep that see a picture and make up your own story to it. And for God’s sake, stop using this sick s**t going on to push your Trump-hating agenda. It is pathetic and mindless.”

Like Santa through the hourglass...

Ghostbusters (2016) is quite possibly the worst film ever made,” says a member of Red Letter Media in his review, yet is not necessarily how I would describe today, while this day has emotionally drained my body and mind:
My friend Robert, a former pastor of the youth group at our old church, visited this morning and gave us some ideas of how we could prepare the house for sale, “There are mountains in our way / But we climb a step every day”

Denton visited and at least got me started clearing some of my things, not an easy task and something that many interventions by my mother, father, and sisters (all working together in various combinations at various times in my life) have had limited, yet little lasting success. To encourage me to succeed, Denton lays down hard truth.

I was feeling absolutely terrified right now and I was going to Burger King to get some dinner for my sister and me, so I called my aunt to talk. While I feel better, I have to resume cleaning tomorrow, maintain that momentum and do a little every day (something everyone has been telling me is really something I need to hear and do)

Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

A sad side salad (I am disappoint)

Going outside, to get the mail and see if the moon was visible, my father was startled when I said something else to him after I had said hello. “Why are you home?!”
While I went to lunch, “A system went down, so I couldn’t work,” which was mostly true. Being Scott Malkinson, cholesterol has happened to me like Edward Furlong, the effervescent tablets for my allergies wear off and my thinking gets clouded and I get darkly moody, so I got impatient waiting for a Word of the Day on Dictionary.com, force majeure, to be resolved. I appreciate restaurant workers, when I changed my side item at the window, they had a single remaining side salad, which was only lettuce and cheese.

There’ll be a reasonable cooling-off period and then somebody will say: ‘Why don’t we try him again in an inexpensive format. People’s memories aren’t too long.’ And you know, in a way, he’ll be right. Some of the people will forget, and some of them won’t. Oh, you’ll have a show. Maybe not the best hour or, you know, top 10. Maybe not even in the top 35. But you’ll have a show. It just won’t be quite the same as it was before. Then a couple of new fellas will come along. And pretty soon, a lot of your fans will be flocking around them. And then one day, somebody’ll ask: ‘Whatever happened to, a, whatshisname? You know, the one who was so big. The number-one fella a couple of years ago. He was famous. How can we forget a name like that? Oh, by the way, have you seen, a Barry Mills? I think he’s the greatest thing since Will Rogers.’”

Below is a link to a WHO (World Health Org.) site using that same poster.

There aren’t a lot of things which ordinary citizens can do to protect ourselves, other than avoiding crowds and practicing ‘social distancing’ of 6 feet.

But one thing we CAN do is practice thorough handwashing procedure. That means washing all parts of the hands, including the fingertips and thumbs, not just the palms of our hands as we were taught as children.

It’s amazing to me that even many American doctors are resistant to practicing thorough handwashing procedure, and that’s one of the reasons why American hospitals have a significantly higher secondary infection rate than European hospitals, where proper handwashing procedure is expected and routine.”

Web Wanderings (Season for Soliloquy)

I work a process that is currently behind so overtime was available and I set my alarm for 8:00 in the morning at 1:10, yet I didn’t go to bed for another half hour. Nature called a half hour before my alarm, which I canceled so I lost some sleep. Since I showed, I had to work at least four hours, all I could manage to do.
Most of my commute home, I had road rage, but I calmed down and hit the Chinese buffet. A friend on Facebook shared screenshots of Twitter with a story from The Kansas City Star:
Before I absolutely had to nap, my father and sister were upstairs and watching “Mr. Monk and Sharona,” “Mr. Monk and the Dog,” and “Mr. Monk Goes Camping” on DVD.
Lastly, I saw the following and thought, “if she paid into the system for almost 50 years and lived to be 54, then she would have had to start working when she was 4 years old or younger,” so something’s wrong with that mathematical thing and others ahead:
“SOCIAL SECURITY.
My wife dies at 54 before collecting one benefit check. She and her employer paid into the system for almost 50 years and she collected NOTHING. Keep in mind all the working people that die every year who were paying into the system and got nothing.
And these governmental morons mismanaged the money and stole from the system so that it’s now going broke. BEAUTIFUL! And they have the audacity to call today’s seniors ‘vultures’ in an attempt to cover their ineptitude. DISGRACEFUL!
The real reason for renaming our Social Security payments is so the government can claim that all those social security recipients are receiving entitlements thus putting them in the same category as welfare, and food stamp recipients.
THIS IS WORTH THE FEW MINUTES IT TAKES TO READ AND DIGEST!
F.Y.I. By changing the name of SS contributions, it gives them the means to refute this program in the future. It’s free money for the government to spend under this guise.
The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a Federal Benefit Payment? I’ll be part of the one percent to forward this. I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you.

Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it.
The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a ‘Federal Benefit Payment.’
This is NOT a benefit. It is OUR money, paid out of our earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too! It totaled 15% of our income before taxes. (This should be enough for you to forward this message, If not read on.)

If you averaged $30K per year over your working life, that’s close to $180,000 invested in Social Security.
If you calculate the future value of your monthly investment in social security ($375/month, including both you and your employer’s contributions) at a meager 1% interest rate compounded monthly, after 40 years of working you’d have more than $1.3+ million dollars saved.

This is your personal investment. Upon retirement, if you took out only 3% per year, you’d receive $39,318 per year or $3,277 per month.

That’s almost three times more than today’s average Social Security benefit of $1,230 per month, according to the Social Security Administration. (Google it – it’s a fact). And your retirement fund would last more than 33 years (until you’re 98 if you retire at age 65)! I can only imagine how much better most average-income people could live in retirement if our government had just invested our money in low-risk interest-earning accounts.
Instead, the folks in Washington pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever did (or Lyndon Johnson).
They took our money and used it elsewhere. They ‘forgot’ (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking. They didn’t have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them ... and they didn’t pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently they’ve told us that the money won’t support us for very much longer. (Isn’t it funny that they NEVER say this about welfare payments?) But is it our fault they misused our investments? And now, to add insult to injury, they’re calling it a benefit, as if we never worked to earn every penny of it. This is stealing!
Just because they borrowed the money, doesn’t mean that our investments were for charity! Let’s take a stand. We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.
Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of the 92% of our population who need it.

Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income. 90% of people won’t forward this. PLEASE! Will you?”

Red Letter Day (As perfect a Thursday)

Before I stayed to watch “Best of the Worst: Black Spine Junka 2,” surprisingly the woman to the left of me, who left the job in September, asked a colleague about how I was doing, and the brother of the significant other asked me for a ride home Wednesday.
My acquiescence to his subsequent request for a ride to work caused me to hurry and made me late Thursday. I was also vaguely supportive of a colleague whom I sometimes disdain. Also, a certain time in the afternoon is the same threshold which I should keep in mind in regards to my blood sugar.

A Wicked Witch of the West (Season for Soliloquy)

“Like, look what this person had to say, Scoob,”
what follows is one of those viral posts:
“Wow! This man is really torqued! Could we wonder what Pelosi did to him to make him so mad? FYI, This has been checked via Snopes, who contacted Mr. Guthrie, who confirmed he did write and send this letter to Ms. Pelosi, here is one brave American, AND his credentials are impressive! Check his credentials, then read his letter to Pelosi!”

“Dear Ms. Pelosi:

I write to you out of utter disdain!
You are as despicable and un-American as the traitor Jane Fonda.

I am a soon to be a 75-year-old who has voted in every state and local election since 1966. I have voted for both Republicans and Democrats alike. I have worked on campaigns for both Republicans and Democrats, white and black. I served the country that I love in Vietnam, as my son did in the Middle East. I was awarded two bronze stars. I have been involved in politics since age 6 when my father was campaign manager for a truly great American Congressman, Charles Raper Jonas, who worked for his constituents and his country, and was to be admired, unlike you.

You obviously haven’t read the Constitution recently, if ever, the Federalist Papers, or even David McCullough’s book on John Adams. You ought to take the time while riding around in your government-provided luxury executive jet to do just that. You represent Socialistic and even Marxist principals that our founding fathers tried to avoid when setting out the capitalistic republican form of government represented by our Constitution.

I find it interesting that you and your husband are multi-millionaires with much of your fortune being made as a result of your public service. You have controlled legislation that has enhanced your husband’s investments both on and offshore. At the same time, you redistributed the wealth of others. Our system of a free market economy is being destroyed by the likes of you. You ride around in a Gulfstream airplane at the taxpayers’ expense while criticizing the presidents of companies who produced something for the economy. You add nothing to the economy of the United States; you only subtract therefrom.

I would like to suggest that you return to the city of fruitcakes and nuts and eat your husband’s canned tuna and pineapple - produced by illegal immigrants and by workers who have been excluded from the protection that 90% of the legal workers in the United States have. I await your defeat in the next election with glee...

Don’t ever use the term un-American again for protesters who love this country and are exercising their rights upon which this country was founded. By the way, while I served in the Army, I was spat on by the same type of lunatics who support you and who you probably supported in the 60s and 70s. You are an embarrassment to all of us who served so that you would have the protected right of free speech to call us un-American. But at the same time, I have the right to write you to notify you that I consider you to be un-American, as do the majority of the people of this formerly great country. You are a true disgrace to most of the people who served this country by offering themselves for public service in the United States Congress.

I feel certain your aides will not share this letter with you, but I intend to share it with many...”

Strange Revivals

The opening credits to Captain Marvel features a montage of appearances by Stan Lee, who also makes an appearance with Captain Marvel, who smiles in reaction.

Captain Marvel was released on International Women’s Day, 8th March 2019, so there may be some cosmetic, no intended pun, elements that your mind may perceive as thematic.

Academy Award winner Brie Larson plays Captain Marvel. Samuel L Jackson returns as Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., and digitally has been made to look younger for the contemporary setting of 1995. Agent Coulson is back, and Jude Law is also there.

An artificially intelligent leader of the Kree civilization, the Supreme Intelligence appears as Annette Bening to the title character as portrayed by Brie Larson. Seen earlier in Guardians of the Galaxy, Djimon Hounsou returns as Korath.
‘(Postponed from Jan. 11) Marilyn suggests, “Potatoes,” for our food item for this weekend’s LR session, featuring Iron Sky: The Coming Race -and- Marvel’s Captain Marvel (2019)’
‘And John bore witness: (John 1:32-34)
“I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him.
I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me,
‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain,
this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’
And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”’

(0 f***s to give)

This post was written later than the date suggests, 1st February.
I was searching my blog to find an image for a post, realizing that I used to write more regularly and how I had resigned myself to accepting the inevitable election of Hillary Clinton as president, who despite the efforts of the complicit mainstream media, propaganda arm of the Democratic Party, failed to be elected. At work the night of the election, I was in the presence of a rabid democrat; since the Senate hearings to consider Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court, and while I actually consider them friends in person, I have had to stop following two on Facebook.
I used the laughing reaction to this post from a friend (except one place in the second excerpt, my editorial comments are mostly parenthetical), who later messaged me.

“‘The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.’ MLK

Twenty years ago, I was a Republican. Then came the Iraq War (which we fought on deficit spending, in the midst of upper-class tax giveaways paid for with the Social Security trust fund), (By Dollar and Percentage, US Debt by President: Did Congress Really Steal From Social Security?) and the subsequent lack of soul (not everyone is James Brown) searching over the lack of WMD (Wikileaks Documents Show WMD Were Found In IraqBlogs For Victory). Then came the demonizing of gay people to maintain control of the government in 2004 (now what are you talking about?), and the unfunded, pharma-written Medicare D bill in 2006.

It slowly dawned on me that everything the Republican party claimed to about was a lie. I asked myself, ‘What’s our moral center?’ and I had no answer. That’s when I became an Obamacan (an ‘Obama’ republican). Then, when Mitch McConnell declared, in the midst of the Great Recession, that his priority was not saving the US economy, but ensuring Obama was a one-term President, that’s when I became a life-long Democrat.

When the Tea Party took over the GOP in 2010, to ensure that nothing was done to save poor/minority homeowners from foreclosure (we were Taxed Enough Already, way to blame, wow), that’s when I realized the awful truth: that the moral center of the Republican party was the right of the powerful to maintain and extend their power, by violence, if necessary (the actual F**k are you talking about?). The GOP was the Mr. Potter party, not the George Bailey party. As someone who has always aligned himself with service toward the least among us, this broke my heart. I’ve been fighting the GOP ever since.

Trying to explain why he finally decided to reject the Republican Party is not going to suddenly persuade me. I rejected the Democratic party with the passage of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which my representative at the time (about whom I have not been talking) in the House of Representatives likely cannot recall since he retired in 2010, ahead of the election in November.
