Aug 27 is the last day

Aug 27 is the last day to drop a full semester credit course and receive a refund.
Oh how we love our DJ, I had only one other drawing of Vinyl Scratch up until now. Hopefully there will be more to come, along with Octavia as well

Beauty of the Web
“As amazing as the web is, its potential is immeasurably greater. Internet Explorer 9 was designed to let that potential shine through.”
After a surprisingly strong rehearsal to the home of John on Sunday night, David and I continued our listening to a CD of songs by Pat Benatar, and visited the QuikTrip that I mentioned in Egocentric Universe: Where was this 019. Once I was home, activity on GetGlue bears witness to my watching Breaking Bad on AMC, where I saw an ad for Internet Explorer 9, and Black Dynamite on Adult Swim, so “Closing Time” notes, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.”

Quivira Road construction update: Two lanes open in each
direction on Quivira Road; but expect occasional lane closures

This comic is something I'd originally planned on posting about 14 months ago, but never had the will to do it, but with school

“The contractor was expected to have completed the initial asphalt work by Saturday evening, Aug. 25. With that completed, only one layer of asphalt remains to be poured. Work on the final layer is expected to start the week of Sept. 4.

Starting Monday, Aug. 27, two lanes are expected to be open in each direction on Quivira Road and turn lanes will be open in each direction, as well.

However, drivers may expect occasional closures to one lane between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on working days, Mondays through Fridays.”
As Egocentric Universe: News of the Day 029 notes, “The Ruel Joyce Recital Series, which is free and open to the public, features some of Kansas City’s finest classical musicians[, who are] scheduled at noon Monday for nine consecutive weeks, Sept. 10 to Nov. 5,” and the fall 2012 Jazz Series follows on Tuesdays after many of those dates.

JCCC Jazz Series features local musicians
I know the transparency won't work, dunno why
“The lineup for the fall Jazz Series of Johnson County Community College has been announced. The series, which showcases the talents of local jazz musicians, takes place at noon Tuesday for six weeks from Sept. 25-Oct. 30. All performances, which are free and open to the public, are held in the Recital Hall of the Carlsen Center unless otherwise noted.

The fall 2012 Jazz Series lineup is:
  • Sept. 25: Luqman Hamza Trio, piano and vocals
  • Oct. 2: Book of Gaia featuring vocalists Angela Hagenbach, Nedra Dixon and Pamela Baskin-Watson. Polsky Theatre
  • Oct. 9: Vine Street East featuring Monte Muza, guitar
  • Oct. 16: Kerry Strayer and Dan Deluca, saxophone and piano
  • Oct. 23: Joe Cartwright Trio
  • Oct. 30: Mike Ning Trio
The Jazz Series is cosponsored by the JCCC music and theatre department and Community Services division. Seating is available on a first-come, first-seated basis.”
Instead of the shows at the Ecumenical Christian Ministries building in Lawrence on Friday, August 31, I will be at the Uptown Arts Bar to experience the jazz of MBIRD (i.e., Megan Birdsall, Michael Smith, Edward Williams and Ryan Janac).
