Celebratory note 065

The status update, a few days later,
from my step-grandfather summarized Saturday better than I could:
June had her 90th Birthday Saturday and all her family came: 3 sons and her daughter and two grandsons and one with his lady friend with her boy and girl. They each came from different states. June said that although it was the greatest birthday party she ever had but now at 90 yrs young she said she could not stand the stress of another one at home. She said the Buffet Resturant is a whole lot less stressful.
With everyone at the house, Uncle Ricky and Aunt Velma began to grill steak, grass-fed Angus. Velma had also cut up watermelon and strawberries and made coleslaw and potato salad. My father took over the grilling of the steak, and others who preferred their steak rarer took turns. Velma then grilled some burgers which were set aside later for supper.
My cousin Mandy who works at Whole Foods and made one of the two cakes which were brought: The first was made of two sheets of whole grain cake mix topped with a thin layer of chocolate Swiss buttercream icing and separated by chocolate ganache; The second, circular chocolate cake was even more decadent, I'm told.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’
declares the LORD, (Jeremiah 29:11)
‘plans for welfare and not for evil,
to give you a future and a hope.’”
