“The Turtle Island Quartet, which fuses classical music with contemporary jazz, will perform at 7 p.m. Sunday, March 9, in the Carlsen Center’s Polsky Theatre.

Tickets are $30 and can be purchased through the college box office.

Remember, JCCC employees can purchase up to four tickets for any Performing Arts Series show for half price. The special employee pricing is available in person or by phone at the box office.

For their program, Turtle Island will focus on the music of two pioneering giants from different musical worlds, John Coltrane and Jimi Hendrix. Have You Ever Been … features works from both artists, as well as other compositions reflective of and inspired by Coltrane and Hendrix. The program also will include selected movements from Turtle Island Quartet founder David Balakrishnan’s composition Tree of Life.
