What do you know 021

If you have found the check-box in Internet Explorer, under Help, and About Internet Explorer, to automatically install new versions, then I would highly advise you to un-check the box, or you will soon find that Windows has installed Internet Explorer 11,
‘By the time Sky-net became self-aware it had spread into millions of computer servers across the planet. Ordinary computers in office buildings, dorm rooms; everywhere. It was software; in cyberspace. There was no system core; it could not be shutdown.’
I prefer the version for “The Twelve Days of Christmas” from A Different World,
and for the first day I would like my MC Hammer CD, please.

“Before you head off for the break, remember to empty your personal trash and recycling to a central trash and recycling station. Please discard food in trash receptacles and not down sinks or toilets. This will help keep the drain lines from becoming clogged.

Power off technology such as computers, monitors and printers in your office areas as well as other equipment such as heated floor pads to allow the college to reduce energy costs.

Please turn all lights off and take plants home if your office does not provide enough outside light for plant health.”
If you still have an inefficient space heater
please replace it with a heating floor pad

“Campus Services and the Sustainability Committee would like to discontinue the use of space heaters in the future.

Space heaters cause several problems for facilities when used in conditioned/occupied spaces. The problems include safety concerns, electrical consumption cost, impact on HVAC systems, stresses on electrical infrastructure and the operational cost of maintenance calls.

Instead of using a space heater, employees should call Campus Services at ext. 3710 to have them check the space temperature. Then if the employee still feels the space is not comfortable, layered clothing is suggested followed by the use of a heated floor pad instead of a space heater.

Though the purchase price is about the same, a typical space heater uses a minimum of 1,000 watts per hour, whereas a heating pad uses 100 watts per hour. Heating floor pads save energy, reduce maintenance calls and are much safer. Typical savings would be $50 a year per conversion from space heater to heating floor pad.

Floor heating pads are available from a variety of retailers and online sources.”
