“The national Active Minds organization has been selected as one of the top 25 charities in the nation to compete for $1 million in the Chase American Giving Awards.

Voting takes place on Facebook for Facebook users, and at www.chase.com/chasegiving for Chase customers.

With suicide the second leading cause of death among high school and college students, Active Minds aims to change the conversation about mental health. By starting the dialogue, educating people about resources and lifting the stigma, Active Minds can help students who are struggling get the help they need.

To vote for active minds, go to voteactiveminds.com.

Voting ends Tuesday, Dec. 4.

If you have any questions, please contact Susie Sympson.”

“This game was over shortly after it started last Monday at JCCC.

The JCCC women’s basketball team, ranked No. 1 in NJCAA D-II, scored 31 unanswered points to start the game, and cruised to a 102-31 victory over Missouri Valley JV.

Amazingly, the 71-point margin of victory was not a record in the series. The Lady Cavaliers downed the Vikings by 112 points (145-33) on Nov. 18, 1991.

Six players finished in double figures scoring for Johnson County. Sophomore forward Kathleen Brisbane led the way with 16 points, hitting eight of her nine field goal attempts.”
