Alice 102 just played a song by The Pretenders;
Rush Limbaugh uses that song as music to introduce his show.

Orange barrel alert: KDOT updates
Quivira traffic movement restrictions
“As a result of the lane/ramp closures that took place Wednesday, Feb. 29, there are some additional traffic impacts that will occur at the Quivira Road/I-435 interchange.

  • Northbound Quivira Road traffic is no longer able to access the westbound I-435 ramp. This traffic movement is closed due to the fact that both northbound and southbound Quivira Road traffic are traveling on the same bridge now and there is no left turn lane access on the bridge to the ramp. This ramp closure will be in place through November 2012, weather permitting.

  • Southbound Quivira Road traffic will be able to access the westbound I-435 ramp for now.

  • At some point later this construction season, there will be a total closure of the Quivira Road to westbound I-435 ramp for 155 consecutive calendar days for reconstruction work. KDOT will notify the public and the media on the Quivira Road to westbound I-435 ramp closure well in advance of the closure start date.”

Orange barrel alert: Updated information on weekend demolition for Quivira Road and I-435 interchange bridges
“From the Kansas Department of Transportation: Weather permitting, beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 3, all eastbound and westbound lanes of I-435 from I-35 to US-69 will be closed to traffic, along with numerous ramp closures, for the demolition of two of the three Quivira Road bridges over I-435.
The Quivira Road bridges will be demolished via implosion at approximately 10 p.m. March 3. The existing bridges will collapse onto a bed of dirt so as to cushion the fall onto the existing I-435 roadway. Crews will then spend the remainder of the overnight closure removing the imploded bridge debris and cleaning up the I-435 roadway.
All of the lane and ramp closures associated with the bridge demolition are expected to reopen to traffic by 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4. The scheduled lane and ramp closures for the Quivira Road bridge demolition work will occur as follows
  • At 2 p.m. March 3, left lane eastbound I-435 from K-10 to I-35 will close to stage equipment
  • At 3:00 p.m. March 3, the left lane of westbound I-435 from Metcalf Avenue to US-69 will close to stage equipment
  • At 5:30 p.m. March 3, the left lane of westbound I-435 at Quivira Road and the left lane of eastbound I-435 at Quivira Road will close
  • At 7 p.m. March 3, the four left lanes of eastbound I-435 before I-35, the three left lanes of westbound I-435 at ramp to US-69, the northbound and southbound I-35 to eastbound I-435 ramps and the northbound and southbound US-69 to westbound I-435 ramps will close
  • At 8 p.m. March 3, all lanes of eastbound I-435 at I-35 and all lanes of westbound I-435 at ramp to northbound US-69 will close.
  • All lanes of Quivira Road over I-435 will be closed for a short time during the demolition of the bridges for approximately 1 hour.
Advance message boards will alert traffic to the lane and ramp closures. Drivers should expect major delays and will need to use alternate routes during the lane and ramp closures.
A marked detour will be provided. Eastbound I-435 traffic will detour via northbound I-35 to eastbound 87th Street to southbound US-69 back to eastbound I-435. Westbound I-435 traffic will detour via northbound US-69 to westbound 87th Street to southbound I-35 back to westbound I-435. Updated daily traffic information for this project can be viewed online at: www.ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.”
