In Search of a Used Postal Jeep

Denton smiles, holds up the key

Wednesday night my friends Denton, Sam, and I hastily departed in search of a used postal Jeep for Denton; his 1994 Toyota Corolla Wagon recently died after 300,000 miles. Years ago, his first postal Jeep shorted out its wiper motor and burned the truck to the ground, but Denton, undeterred with the list of Craig Newmark, found another Jeep in Potter, near Atchison, Kansas.
Gusty Winds Blow Through Kansas City
“KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The gusty winds coupled with tall buildings in downtown Tuesday, made the area seem more like a wind tunnel for those there. The peak wind gust in the area were recorded at 48...”
AccuWeather.com had issued WIND ADVISORY for the two days before our journey, and we all looked for rain in the forecast, but the resulting storm that night was minor, and we fortunately saw no winter event on our trek.

Envelope to title for Jeep

Denton has much stress and many challenges in his life. He is studying public administration at Johnson County Community College, where next week is Spring Break, thankfully availing him to move into a new apartment. Like many in this economy, Denton has struggled to find stable, full-time employment, and currently works two part-time jobs, in addition to his own company Turley Solutions, which distributes promotional literature. With much aplomb, he also interns at the State Capitol in Topeka for Rob Bruchman, for whom he campaigned in 2010. Somehow, Denton still finds the time to host friends at his home on Friday nights.

Denton could probably tell one more about his postal Jeep than I.

As the odometer in my car now read 113,800, “We could drive it home with one headlight,” but we stopped at the Walmart in Bonner Springs for a new one, and exited K-7 on Johnson Drive; that last section of the journey was twenty miles.

Both headlights now work

While Sam and Denton were installing new lights, I drove over to the Burger King. They finished soon after I returned. Last night was full of miracles of timing like that.
